While shooting, I look for different and interesting ways to display the subject, especially if I have a lot of captures of the same subject. I continually change vantage points, overexpose or underexpose the scene, manage my depth of field to separate the subject from the surroundings without removing context. This is a shot from above that appealed to me because it was different from most of the other lily photographs.
I am closing out the carnival shots with this ghost in the machine. With a tripod, this long exposure time was enough to capture the ghosts of people as they moved, along with the pretty lights on the ride, while the shutter was open.
Looking less bored than yesterday, she seems to be hunting for something (perhaps the Easter Bunny).
I could not get enough of these sunsets. This was the beach directly behind the bed and breakfast in Tamrindo, Costa Rica. We were the only two staying there, and the staff was lovely! We had such a great adventure with there suggestions and hand drawn maps.
Trust that little voice in your head
that says “Wouldn’t it be interesting if...”, and then do it.It seems that what you do for a living is not always what you enjoy doing on the weekends, but somehow I figured it out. I fell in love with photography in my high school journalism class, and have been shooting ever since. I studied photography on a scholarship at the Art Institute of Dallas. I have been working with high-end photography and large format printing for over 17 years, and still enjoy what I do.
